Jimmy Kimmel Live Asks SXSW Fans About Fake Bands
Jimmy Kimmel Live has been on the road all week at SXSW in Austin, Texas, having a lot of fun as Jimmy usually does.
South by Southwest started in 1987. It has become one of the country’s biggest multimedia festivals, which also includes film and a spotlight on emerging technology.
The music side can be a bit snobbish. Some people like to think they know so much about music and that band nobody else has heard of yet, but is bound to be the next big thing. These people flat out suck!
There is a difference between a music fan and these people, which some call hipsters. These people, a.k.a. hipsters, hang their hats on knowing bands that nobody else does, that’s it. Nothing more, nothing less.
Music fans appreciate music and may know bands you don’t, but that’s okay because they don’t act like they’re cool because of it.
A music fan will actually want to share that unknown band, but a hipster will high five his ironic mustachioed hipster friend and ride away on their fixie bike because who needs gears?
Anyway, enough of those douchey people. Jimmy sent his Lie Witness News team out on the streets at SXSW with a sack-full of fake band names to see who really knows the new acts on the scene.
