You know how much we love a good viral story, especially ones that are filled with so much passion that you can’t help but take notice and immediately write a blog post about it.
This week, it’s about the food delivery service Eat 24 making a bold statement and deleting their Facebook Fan Page for good. And not only are they deleting their page, but they are going out with fire on their heels.
While we don’t want to bore you with the technical details of Facebook Fan Page management, you do need a little background in case you don’t have “Social Media Manager” in your job title.
Facebook has an algorithm they use that decides whether a post sent out to a fan page is seen by said fans. In most cases, the post is only seen by a small percentage (10-15%) of the total page, but if you pay to ‘boost’ it, you can reach your full potential. Or so they say.
It’s been a frustrating case for many companies who use the social platform to promote things happening with their business, but most just go along with it and continue their days, hoping that the majority of their fans actually get the communication they are putting out.
Well, Eat 24 is standing up against this, and have written an EPIC letter ‘breaking up’ with Facebook, and are officially deleting it as of today (March 31) at 11:59 pm.
