MUSIC: ROCKERS AGAINST TRAFFiCKING
Professional photographer Kevin Estrada has photographed some of the biggest names in the business. Ozzy Osbourne, AC/DC, Axl Rose and Kurt Cobain are among the stars that have been immortalized by Estrada’s camera over his long career. Estrada has put together an all-star benefit for his organization Rockers Against Trafficking at Paladino’s on April 11th that will feature live performances by members of Helmet, Slayer, Ministry, Megadeth, W.A.S.P. and Stone Temple Pilots. The benefit will raise money to aide the young victims of human trafficking. Schecter and Fender guitars will also be raffled off along with other goodies such as signed rock and roll memorabilia. Tickets are only $15.00 at the door and all the proceeds will go towards the organization’s cause.

EVENTS: BEER TASTING AND TASSELS
Dude, this is your night. You can hit the Federal Bar in Long Beach for samples of quality draft beers like Mirror Pond Pale Ale, Black Butte XXV from Oregon’s Deschutes Brewery while enjoying a delightfully coquettish burlesque show at Beer-Lesque Tasting and Tassels on Friday, April 11th. The tassel twirls, rump bumps and outrageousness of notorious burlesque show host Naughty Pierre will undoubtedly pair nicely with a few rounds of award-winning brewskis. MOVIES: “UGH! AS IFFF!” CLUELESS SCREENING SATURDAY
The enchanting lore of Hollywood’s glitzy teen glitterati in pink Maseratis has mesmerized the normaloids in the real world for, like, ever! Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton definitely owe their big ups and bling status to the 1995 cult classic film Clueless. Alicia Silverstone will grace the big screen, once again, as the effervescent, O.G. Beverly Hills teen, “Cher Horowitz.” The screening will take place outdoors on Saturday, April 14th at The Electric Dusk Drive-In. Gates open at 6:30m pm and movie begins at 8:00pm sharp. FOOD: LOS ANGELES AVOCADO FOOD FESTIVAL
The avocado is a truly a gift from the gods. You can find it at just about any Los Angeles eatery dipped and fried, sliced and diced or spread all over restaurant menu items. Southern Californians love their avocados and there is no better place for avocado lovers to to get their grub-a-thon on than at The Los Angeles Avocado Food Festival. This Sunday, Placita Olvera will be turned into an avo-cropolis of local restaurants, vendors, and the devout foodies who come to devour the fabulous fruit prepared in a variety of ways. The event is free to the public and there will be music, crafts and exhibits. The whole thing takes place April 12th.

FOOD: THE GRILLED CHEESE INVITATIONAL
The grilled cheese sandwich is more than a mere snack between meals or a dorm room delicacy; it is an acquired skill. That’s right. A skill. This year’s invitational will end with a bonus round where the current winner and all previous winners will return to sear sammies in one final meltdown for a chance to be crowned the Final Grilled Cheese Champion.
EVENTS: 40TH TOYOTA GRAND PRIX OF LONG BEACH
Dust off those fanny packs and beer can coolers for the 40th Annual Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Droves of race car fans will descend upon downtown Long Beach for three days of races and stunts. Fans cheering over America’s Top Drifters negotiating corners like mavericks during The Formula Drift are just a small part of the weekend. Other activities include celebrity races and live performances by the band Kinky and Paul Rodgers of Bad Company. Los Angeles’finest gourmet food trucks will also be on hand to feed the hungry hordes and Club Patron will be among the vendors serving up tequila. Tickets are still available online.
EVENTS: THE AMAZING ROCK CATS
If you were too broke to go to Coachella this weekend, don’t even sweat it. Those hipsters in the desert are totally missing out on the hottest show in Los Angeles; the paw-some Acro Cats. This performance troupe of expertly-trained fluffy felines can not only ride skateboards and perform acro-catic stunts, but they have also brought the soon to be infamous Rock Cats band along on their Up-Close and Purrsonal Tour. Tuna, Dakota, Fiji and their furr-riends are purr-forming at the Santa Monica Playhouse on April 10th through the 13th. Purchase tickets online while they’re still available.
MUSIC: TWRK and DJ GREEN LANTERN
Rage at the Avalon in Hollywood as TWRK and DJ Green Lantern drop that deep 808 and go hard on all your senses with a merciless assault of low-frequency bass and machine gun snares for an all-nighter of trap, twerkin’and bowin’ up till sunrise. The show starts at 9:30 on Friday April 11th and goes until 5:00 am on Saturday morning. Get tickets before they sell out.
MUSEUM: HARRY POTTER’S WIZARDRY LIVES ON
You can’t call yourself a Harry Potter fanatic until you have checked the Hollywood Museum’s Harry Potter exhibit off of your fanboy checklist. The exhibit features memorable props such as the broom that Harry rode in Sorcerer’s Stone, his quill and ink bottle, wands, costumes, and many other items from the beloved film franchise. The museum also happens to be concurrently running a few other incredible exhibits that horror fans and and pop culture aficionados will enjoy. This weekend you can have the rare pleasure of catching Harry Potter, Michael Jackson, Elvira: Mistress of The Dark, and the Dungeon of Doom horror exhibits all at once!
