Research Proves Hangry Spouses Fight More Often

He may be a little late to the party, but today, Carson finally learned the definition of “hangry.”

It’s a phenomenon where you become angry because you are extremely hungry.

We assumed this was an overly-dramatic term coined by the media, but it turns out low blood sugar levels have been scientifically linked to spousal arguments!

Researchers asked 107 married couples to measure their blood glucose levels each night and then indicate their aggression towards their spouse by sticking pins in a voodoo doll.

Turns out more pins were thrust inside the dolls of those who reported the lowest blood sugar levels.

“We need glucose for self-control,” Ohio State University psychology researcher Brad Bushman told CBS News. “Anger is the emotion that most people have difficulty controlling.”

“I live with a very, very hangry woman,” Carson laughed, referring to his fiancee, Siri. “I know when I walk in the door, ‘Oh, you didn’t eat, did you?'”

Producer Angie once had dinner with a couple so hangry, the wife chucked a tortilla at her husband’s head!

“She lost her mind for a second. She’s the most mild-mannered person,” Angie explained. “We just sat there like, ‘She must be hangry!’ And she was. He got her a snack and she was back to level.”

So the next time you feel like screaming at your spouse, avoid the drama and maybe sneak a snack or two first!
