Everybody is familiar with the word “selfie” and in fact, it was used so much last year that it was named the word of the year by the Oxford Dictionary.
It’s defined as a photograph that one has taken of oneself, typically with a smartphone or webcam and then uploaded to social media.
Many people are on the fence about selfies. Some people, however, see no problem with them.
I personally think it’s a fine line. Usually it’s all in good fun, but people want attention and in a recent study, when kids were asked what do you want to be when you grow up, the answer was famous.
Psychologists are even studying people who can’t stop turning the camera their way in an attempt to capture the perfect selfie, classifying it as an addiction. Just like everything else, moderation is the key.
