Detroit Electronic Music Festival’s Return Postponed Until 2015

Detroit is now back to just one dance music festival.
What had been billed as a triumphant return of the original Detroit Electronic Music Festival this Fourth of July weekend after years of dormancy (and drama) will now have to wait another 12 months, with this year’s event being officially postponed until 2015.
Movement, the techno-powered music festival scheduled for Memorial Day weekend (May 24-26), is still set to happen as planned.
“Today (April 17), we are announcing that the world’s largest electronic music festival experience…shall now be hosted in the birthplace of techno in the heart of downtown Detroit July 3-5, 2015,” reads a statement from the event organizers. They cite a litany of reasons behind the postponement, from local rail construction to “a number of exciting festival developments that require more time to ensure their proper presentation.”
