Each year on UCLA’s Intramural Field, hundreds of music lovers gather for a two-day festival, Jam Day and Reggae Day, celebrating the best in jazz, hip-hop, and reggae music! Past performers have included The Roots, Erykah Badu, Q-Tip, Damien Marley, Nas, Barrington Levy, Raphael Saadiq, Common, and many more! The festival also features tons of delicious food and vendors from many different cultural backgrounds.
Established, created, and produced by the students of UCLA, JazzReggae Festival is the largest student-run festival in the nation! Jasmine Pierik, student and JazzReggae Festival producer told The Daily Bruin, “Having an artist like Snoop Dogg, who is recognized in every household, is really going to boost our ticket sales and bring a really great variety of people. This is an artist (who), more than previous years, students are really tuned in with the headliner.”
Aloe Blacc is also a major headliner for the festival! His collaboration with Avicii, “Wake Me Up” is massively successful! Also, he recently released an official 2014 World Cup anthem, “The World Is Ours.”
The 28th Annual JazzReggae Festival tickets are available via their website.
