Los Angeles-based performer, rapper, blinged-out bad girl with a hidden feminist message, Brooke Candy, is on her way to success. Her latest slight-NSFW video, “Opulance,” was directed by one-time and longtime Madonna collaborator, Steve Klein, and features a wardrobe full of latex and jewels courtesy of Lady Gaga‘s former style designer during his Born This Way-era, Nicola Formichetti.
A demonic mistress covered in jewels, the video starts with Candy beating money out of a dude before hopping in a sports car and dancing around in a state of highly-sexual opium den-ish “opulence.”
The arty tone of the video highlights the lyrics of the songs which was co-written by Sia (who must have a thing for bling because, hello? Rihanna‘s “Diamonds?”). Los Angeles’ finest up-and-coming export, who has attracted collabs with talent both locally (Jesse St. John of BLOK) and internationally (Charli XCX and Grimes) will be releasing a a five-song EP named Opulence on May 5th.
She’s also got a fan in AMP Radio fav, Sam Smith.
Keep your eye out on this Angeleno. Although with all that “opulence” dripping off her, it’d be hard not to.
