Viral Video: Lana Del Rey’s “West Coast”
Lana Del Rey’s song “Summertime Sadness,” off her second album Born to Die, has to be the most-played song of all time here at AMP Radio. Actually, to get technical, it’s the remix version by Cedric Gervais.
I mean, we started playing it last summer, then summer turned into fall, then winter, then spring, and then summer again!
I’ve heard it so much that I had to seek therapy because I was actually really, really happy last summer, but was left confused by this new summertime sadness trend that was sweeping the nation. I’d get out of the water feeling pretty good after a surf, then see all these kids dressed in black like Edward Scissorhands on the beach looking really sad.
I wasn’t sure if being sad in the summer was what all the cool kids were doing and was feeling pretty left out. After some therapy sessions, I learned how to deal with the sadness that has been drilled into my ears by Lana.
I’ve accepted it and let it overtake me, so that I may be part of the cool kid scene this summer and become one with the sadness. My therapist also taught me that invisible tears are the hardest to wipe away.
Anyway, for today’s Viral Video of the Day, let’s check out a NEW SONG from Lana filmed here in Los Angeles called “West Coast,” which has a pretty dope back beat. Let’s hope it replaces the sadness in us all.
