No, Kobe Bryant Won’t Be Buying The Los Angeles Clippers

The future of the Los Angeles Clippers is up in the air after the NBA banned owner Donald Sterling for life. Sterling may be forced to sell the team after audio clips of his racist rants went public.

Several A-list stars are considering an investment in the franchise, but there’s one all-star athlete who won’t be stepping up to the plate: Kobe Bryant.

While appearing on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the Los Angeles Laker denied rumors, ignited by Kimmel, that he would buy a stake in the rival team.

“No,” Bryant revealed. “I know that’s not a possibility as terms of brand appreciation goes.”

Donald Sterling’s racist comments have echoed far beyond just the Clippers and even though Kobe was vague how Sterling’s words impacted him personally, he mentioned that he had reached out to one of his friends in the league.

“Chris [Paul] is a friend of mine, so I sent him a message throughout this whole fiasco.”

Kobe and the Lakers didn’t advance to the playoffs this season, but he’s no sore loser. In fact, he’s rooting for his rivals.

“It doesn’t matter to me because I’m not winning. I think it is great for the city, it is great for competition. I love it when they do well.”
