La Mirada High athletic director and baseball coach Kim Brooks has been placed on administrative leave in the wake of a 17-minute profanity-laced rant that has leaked onto the internet.
Brooks was caught on tape swearing and screaming at his players following an 8-4 loss against Los Osos on April 26.
“I’ve been here a long time,” he said. “I will tell you that was probably the most pathetic (expletive) baseball game I’ve ever seen a group play!”
But the scolding didn’t end there.
“I am not what we did today,” Brooks yelled. “This is not me! And you represent me!”
“If you don’t get it, (expletive) get out. Get the (expletive) out!” he continued. “That’s the way it’s been, and that’s the way it’s gotta be until I (expletive) die. If you don’t like it, it’s easy to transfer.”
Brooks has since apologized for his behavior, explaining, “My language was inappropriate. I was trying to motivate my team after a very poor performance, and I apologize about the language.”
Was Brooks too harsh or was he simply trying to motivate the young men?
