Beats Music Acquired By Apple for $3 Billion
You know AMP Radio is down with Beats Music. We were one of the first stations to partner with the music streaming app, and we’ve continued to have a blast creating custom curated music playlists for you. You can follow us here.
There was no denying how solid the product was from the minute it launched, so we’re not surprised at all to read that a company as focused on music and technology as Apple has purchased the company for $3 billion.
“Music is such an important part of all of our lives and holds a special place within our hearts at Apple,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO in a statement to Beats Music. “That’s why we have kept investing in music and are bringing together these extraordinary teams so we can continue to create the most innovative music products and services in the world.”
So how will the partnership work? Beats co-founders Jimmy lovine and Dr.Dre will actually join Apple.
“I’ve always known in my heart that Beats belonged with Apple,” said Jimmy Iovine according to the Beats Music website. “The idea when we started the company was inspired by Apple’s unmatched ability to marry culture and technology. Apple’s deep commitment to music fans, artists, songwriters and the music industry is something special.”
We’re stoked for the brand, and to see how the app will continue to develop now that they are partnered with such a huge company like Apple.
