In addition to previewing looks on Instagram and downloading the set times, EDM fans have been prepping for this weekend’s massive Electric Daisy Carnival by watching Under the Electric Sky, the recently released documentary involving the emotional stories from various attendees of last year’s EDC Las Vegas.
DJ Kaskade has an especially intimate relationship with both the festival and the film, having played the event on multiple occasions and being handpicked by EDC’s CEO Pasquale Rotella to produce the soundtrack for Under the Electric Sky.
“It was a new process. This is the first time I’ve ever scored a film,” Kaskade explained during a recent interview with Radio.com. “It’s different than how I typically work. When I sit down to make an album or write a song, it’s very much about me and my story. But to play music and put it along to imagery that’s already there is a very different process. I liked it, and by the end of it I felt very fluid and in touch with the director. It was a collaboration with the people who made the film to make sure the music worked just perfectly for it.”
Having worked so closely on the movie, Kaskade found that watching the finished product with a live audience added an even deeper appreciation for Under the Electric Sky.
