Carson Daly Talks To Ello CEO Paul Budnitz About The Ad-Free Social Network

With Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat taking up all that precious storage space on your iPhone, you might think adding another social network to your online presence is crazy talk, but Ello is the new up-and-comer to the scene that may be a total game changer.

What makes Ello so special? It is ad-free and vows to never sell your information to a third party. That means you won’t see creepy advertisements for dating websites or STD tests popping up in your feed just because you’re an unmarried 20-something.

The company’s manifesto reads: “Every post you share, every friend you make and every link you follow is tracked, recorded and converted into data. Advertisers buy your data so they can show you more ads. You are the product that’s bought and sold. We believe there is a better way. We believe in audacity. We believe in beauty, simplicity and transparency.”

Currently, the network is invite-only. In fact, it’s so exclusive, even Carson tried to sign up and hasn’t been accepted yet!

He got CEO and co-founder Paul Budnitz on the phone this morning to learn all about why Ello has all the “cool kids” talking. Take a listen:
