Watch John Travolta Explain His Idina Menzel, Adele Dazeem Flub

By Sarah Carroll

It’s been a full year since one of the greatest Oscar fails of all time…John Travolta’sAdele Dazeem” moment!

The legendary actor attempted to redeem himself during Sunday’s awards show and even though he finally pronounced the singer’s name correctly, he still managed to creep out most of America by awkwardly grabbing her chin.

Just minutes after yesterday’s shindig, Travolta appeared on Jimmy Kimmel’s After The Oscars special to finally explain his spectacular viral flub.

Travolta’s troubles began when his page got stuck in an elevator during the 2014 show. He claims a new page flustered him when they suddenly rushed him to the stage.

On the way, he ran into Goldie Hawn. Damn you, Goldie!

“Now, Goldie Hawn is charismatic, sexy, beautiful,” Travolta described. “I was starstruck. I’m starstruck hugging and loving her up forgetting that I have to go and do this bit.”

At that point, he was warned that the phonetic spelling of Menzel’s name would be displayed on the teleprompter, but apparently it didn’t really sink in until he found himself completely flabbergasted on stage.

“I get to her thing and I go, ‘Hmmm??'” Travolta told Jimmy Kimmel. “And in my mind I’m going, ‘What is that name? I don’t know that name.’ And it was this phonetic spelling, but I didn’t rehearse it that way.”

“So this was Goldie Hawn’s fault,” Kimmel cracked.
