The TODAY Show has officially welcomed its newest member to the family, an 8-week old black Labrador Retriever!
America had the honor of naming the little pup. The three options were Sarge, Charlie, and Ace. After NBC tabulated the thousands of votes, Savannah Guthrie revealed that Charlie was the big winner!
It’s all part of their “Puppy with a Purpose” program. The morning news show previously trained Wrangler for guide dog services, but now that he’s off doing bigger and better things, it’s time for a new dog to learn the ropes.
Charlie is being instructed by America’s VetDogs, “a nonprofit organization that provides trained service and guide dogs to veterans and first responders with disabilities.” He will remain at the TODAY Show for 16-months and then will be matched with a disabled veteran.
Carson’s been here in L.A. shooting The Voice for several weeks and was beyond bummed he wasn’t there in person for Charlie’s big reveal, so he called up his Orange Room producer Brittany Haviland to get the scoop.
