Carson Daly Remembers Aaliyah On The 15th Anniversary Of Her Death

It’s almost unimaginable to believe we lost Aaliyah fifteen years ago today.

The R&B singer tragically died in a plane crash in the Bahamas at the height of her music and acting career.

Carson Daly knew Aaliyah well during his tenure at MTV and he paid tribute to his friend earlier this morning.

“She was a prolific artist,” he said. “She was on her way. I can’t even imagine fifteen years later, can you imagine Aaliyah’s career right now? I would be begging her to be a coach on The Voice right now. She was unbelievable, always was.”

“A lot of the music you hear today is because somebody at some point was heavily influenced by Aaliyah.”
