WATCH: Libertarian Gary Johnson Struggles To Name A Single Foreign Leader

By Sarah Carroll

The United States is largely a two-party system, but there are other choices this election if you’re not a Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump supporter.

Gary Johnson is representing the Libertarian party. He and his running mate, Bill Weld, recently appeared on Hardball to talk about their platform with Chris Matthews.

But things got a little awkward when Matthews asked Johnson to name one living foreign leader he admired.

After hesitating for a moment, Johnson stammered, “I guess I’m having an Aleppo moment in the former president of Mexico.”

He’s referring to another one of his political gaffes in which he admitted he did not know that Aleppo is a war-torn Syrian city suffering from a major refugee crisis.

Eventually Weld bailed him out by offering up the name of former Mexican president Vicente Fox.
